Dean trusted Castiel and Castiel lied to him. The problem wasn’t that Dean didn’t appreciate him or get his awesomeness. He felt it, he got it. That’s why it hurt so much when Castiel lied and manipulated things. Whatever Castiel’s ultimate motivations, it was a regrettable path for the right reasons. Dean believed in Castiel even after there was evidence to the contrary, even after Bobby and Sam were suspicious. Dean believed harder and longer and earlier than anyone and the harder the belief, the more painful it is when it’s broken. 

This is a love story about two stubborn assholes. Not one asshole and the misunderstood, under-appreciated angel in the dirty trenchcoat who loves him. They misunderstood each other, with both of their issues being the single greatest obstacle they had to remaining side by side, and the degree that they cared was also what made the mess messier.

What hits me the most is when Dean later on tells Cas that he considered them family and that he was like a brother to him. Dean doesn’t let people into his life that easy, much less call them family. And what I gathered from all that is that Dean doesn’t even know what he considers Cas. Hes more than a friend but he doesnt hold Cas on the same level as he would a brother. Because if he did he would have saw where he was coming from and forgave him just like he does with Sam. He even gives Bobby the same speech about Rufus, saying that he should just forgive him and let it go.It makes me think why Dean can’t take his own advice and do this for Castiel. He would do it for Sam and Bobby. It makes me think what Dean classes Castiel as per say. I don’t even think he is aware of his own feelings.

I guess when you have that look of ‘oh shit I shouldnt have said that. if I knew you were going to get this hurt I would’ve just kept my big mouth shut. fuck Cas im so sorry’ for what you just said (third gif) you should start to look at your life and look at your choices.
